Privacy policy

The app

Kekoso is not released yet. When it ships, this is the arrangement, and it is an architectural fact rather than a policy choice: speech recognition runs entirely on your Mac.

• Audio is held in memory while it is recognised and discarded immediately afterwards. It is never written to disk and never transmitted.
• Transcripts are stored in a local database inside your user library so history and search work. You can delete any entry, or all of them, at any time. We never receive a copy.
• No account exists. There is nothing to register, so there is no profile of you to store, sell, or lose in a breach.
• No usage analytics or telemetry are collected from the app. Not anonymised ones either.

The two times the app touches the network

Both are unrelated to your speech, and both are visible to any network monitor you care to point at it.

• Model download on first launch, from a public model host. It happens once. Afterwards you can stay offline permanently.
• Update checks, which fetch a small version file from our server. Like any HTTP request this reveals your IP address and app version to us. It can be switched off in settings.

Payment

Purchases will be handled by Paddle, acting as merchant of record. They receive your billing details and email address in order to process the payment and issue an invoice; we receive your email address and the fact that you bought a licence. We never see your card.

This website

No advertising trackers, no session recording, no cross-site cookies. If we add analytics, it will be a privacy-preserving product that does not fingerprint visitors, and this paragraph will name it.

If you join the early access list, we store your email address for exactly one purpose: telling you when the beta and the 1.0 release are out. Every message has an unsubscribe link, and asking us to delete your address means it is deleted.
